BREAKING: Wyoming Highway Patrol Association Makes Bitcoin History!
First Law Enforcement Association in U.S. to adopt Bitcoin
Cheyenne, WY – In a potentially groundbreaking move, the Wyoming Highway Patrol Association (WHPA) is exploring the adoption of Bitcoin, making it possibly the first law enforcement association in the nation to hold the Bitcoin on its balance sheet and with a portion in self-custody. This initiative is in partnership with Proof of Workforce, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing Bitcoin education.
The announcement, made on X (formerly Twitter) by Proof of Workforce (@workforcebtc), highlights the WHPA's interest in the "Get Off Zero" initiative.
The official post stated: "JUST IN: Wyoming Highway Patrol Association adopts Proof of Workforce “Get Off Zero” Initiative, potentially becoming the first law enforcement association in the nation to hold Bitcoin on its balance sheet and in self-custody."
The WHPA, established in 1974, provides support and resources to the Troopers, Dispatchers, Port of Entry Officers, and civilian staff of the Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP). Their mission is to ensure the safety and security of Wyoming's roadways. The association supports ongoing training and professional development, equipping its members with the latest tools and techniques in law enforcement. Proof of Workforce, founded by California firefighter Dom Bei, offers free Bitcoin education and initiatives to workers, labor unions, pension funds, and municipalities. The organization has a track record of assisting organizations in navigating the world of Bitcoin. They previously helped the Santa Monica Firefighters become the first union in the U.S. to hold Bitcoin in self-custody, and have worked with other unions globally. Proof of Workforce also facilitated a Bitcoin education forum for Board of Trustee members from the Wisconsin Retirement System, prior to its Bitcoin investment, and assisted the city of Santa Monica in establishing the first Municipal Bitcoin Office in the United States.
"The men and women of the Wyoming Highway Patrol Association proudly work to enhance the safety of all of those on our highways," said Austin Bluemel, Vice President of the WHPA. "We are excited to explore Bitcoin as a network and asset, to evaluate ways it can further support our organization and its members."
Dom Bei, Founder of Proof of Workforce, commented, "Bitcoin continues to protect the time and energy of those who protect us. Similar to a chaotic and unpredictable emergency situation, Bitcoin remains a reliable and stable long-term tool for workers and wage-earners amidst an ever-changing and expanding fiat-based monetary system."
U.S. Senator for Wyoming, Cynthia Lummis, also voiced her support…
"The Wyoming Highway Patrol Association’s investment in Bitcoin ensures they will be able to continue keeping our highways safe across the Cowboy State, and I am excited they continue to use new technology to support their mission.”
BITCOIN ADOPTION ONWARD
This potential adoption of Bitcoin by the WHPA marks a significant step in the growing exploration of Bitcoin within various sectors, including public service organizations. The move could serve as a precedent for other law enforcement associations across the country.
